IT’S HERE BUT NOT FOR LONG…
I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS ALBUM AS MUCH AS I ENJOYED MAKING IT.
Hello, friends,
This album is the result of three years of writing and experimentation — time spent reflecting, creating, and, in many ways, stepping outside the comfort zone of my usual approach. After my years of collaborating with Stuart Adamson, Bruce Watson, and my longtime musical brother Mark Brzezicki, I set out to explore something more personal and unplanned. With no clear roadmap in mind, I let the process unfold naturally. Life, in all its unpredictability, became my inspiration: my growing family, my love of golf, and the warmth of my local pub and its amazing patrons all contributed to my sense of a quiet, content future.
But as it turns out, that vision of an easy, ordinary life didn’t stick around for long.
Throughout this journey, I’ve been fortunate to have the unwavering support of my long-time manager Ian Grant — not only as a manager but as a lifelong friend. Though I had initially planned this project as something purely for myself, I soon realised it wouldn’t be right to involve Ian given his ongoing health struggles. So, I set out to navigate the album independently, focusing on sharing it through the internet and seeing where it might go.
Then, one day, I received an incredibly tough phone call from my old friend and Big Country fan, John King. He told me that his wife Sarah — a huge supporter of both Big Country and my music — had passed away after a long illness. The news hit hard, but after some time to process, John and I reconnected to talk about what we could do together in the future. John had spent years in management in the Manchester music scene, and I was reminded that his early career was shaped by none other than Ian Grant himself.
And now, after all this time and all these twists, the album is complete and ready to be shared with you. No Profit in a Peaceful World is officially out from 28th April 2025.
I hope you find something in it that resonates with you. It’s been a deeply personal journey, and I’m so grateful to finally share it with you.
Enjoy the music.
